Expert Psychological Counselor Yaqeen SİKANDER



He was born in Kashmir, India. He completed his undergraduate degree in Psychology at International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) in 2015 with a full scholarship. He received training from Prof. Malik Badri who is one of the most important names in the field of Islamic Psychology in Malaysia.

In 2016, Yaqeen started his master's degree in Guidance and Psychological Counseling at Marmara University with a full scholarship through Turkey Scholarships. He graduated in 2020. In 2019, he won the Erasmus research scholarship and completed his master's thesis titled "Investigation of the Psychological Resilience and Happiness Levels of Syrian Refugee Children Studying in Turkey" at the University of Münster in Germany.

Yaqeen was once again entitled to receive a full scholarship from Turkey Scholarships in 2021 to complete his doctorate in Clinical Psychology at Ibn Haldun University, where he currently attends. He received TIIP (Traditional Islamically Oriented Psychotherapy) training from Dr Hooman Keshavarzi, his doctoral thesis advisor.

Yaqeen works mostly with patients suffering from Depression, Anxiety, PTSD, Panic Disorder, OCD, Bereavement, Adjustment Disorders, Relationship Problems, and Burnout Syndrome. His approach to therapy is experiential, client-centered, goal-oriented, and strengths-based positive psychology. Yaqeen uses interventions from Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, Emotion-Focused Therapy, Positive Psychotherapy, Islamic Oriented Psychotherapy and Psychodynamic-Existential Therapy models in his therapy practices.

Yaqeen is a sought-after speaker for personal development and leadership programs. He offers Employee Assistance Programs (EAPs), training workshops and mental health workshops for the corporate world. He regularly produces content on mental health. He has more than 100,000 followers on social media platforms. Over the past decade, he has traveled to 37 countries, mostly to speak, deliver corporate training, and conduct mental health seminars, conferences, and workshops. Yaqeen also operates in humanitarian aid and peacebuilding. Yaqeen is a member of ACWAY (A Common Word Among the Youth) and Stanford AMENDS (The American Middle Eastern Network for Dialogue at Stanford). Yaqeen is also a published author and poet.

Yaqeen speaks fluent English, Turkish, Urdu, Hindi and Kashmiri. He also speaks intermediate level Arabic and Malay.
