He graduated from Istanbul University Cerrahpasa Faculty of Medicine in 2002. He completed his specialization/doctoral studies in Child and Adolescent Mental Health and Psychiatry in the United Kingdom. In 2014, he was appointed as "Assistant Professor", in 2018 as "Associate Professor", and in 2023 as "Professor".
After completing his diploma and master’s education in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) at the University of Oxford, he was accredited by national and international institutions as a trainer and supervisor in CBT. He continues to provide therapy training to mental health professionals, from psychiatrists and psychologists to guidance and counseling specialists, in the field of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy.
Dr. Görmez continues his academic work as a faculty member in the Department of Child and Adolescent Mental Health and Psychiatry at Istanbul Medeniyet University Faculty of Medicine. He also provides courses and supervision to clinical psychology master's and doctoral students at Ibn Haldun University Psychotherapy Application and Research Center (İPAM).
